Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates are one of the three main nutrients in food, providing the body with its primary source of energy. They are broken down into glucose (blood sugar), which fuels cells, tissues, and organs. There are three main types: sugars, starches, and fiber. While simple sugars and starches are easily digested for energy, fiber is a complex carbohydrate that aids digestion and helps regulate blood sugar and cholesterol.
